Things That Shouldn’t Be Shared with Mobile Phones

Mobile phones are expensive devices that can put a strain on your budget when you need to buy a new one. Therefore, it is important to properly care for and maintain your phone to extend its lifespan. It is also advisable to avoid keeping it with items that can potentially damage it and help you use it for longer.

Things not to keep with your mobile phone

According to Aboluowang, experts recommend not keeping the following five items with your mobile phone if you don’t want to replace it soon.

Keys

Many people keep their keys and mobile phones together in their pockets. In doing so, the edges and corners of the keys can easily scratch the phone. Keys can also be struck against the phone’s screen, causing cracks.

Putting the phone in the back pocket makes it more prone to screen cracking. Moreover, it can easily slip and fall.

Cash

Some people keep a few banknotes in their phone case for emergency purposes. However, this can negatively affect the phone’s ability to dissipate heat and may eventually affect its performance.

Furthermore, if the phone case is transparent, the banknotes can easily attract the attention of thieves.

Liquids

Do not keep beverages or other liquid-containing items with your mobile phone. Liquid can leak and seep into the phone, causing damage.

Magnetic objects

Lipstick is a typical example. If the two lipstick caps automatically stick together, it means they have magnetic properties. If placed near the mobile phone for a prolonged period, the magnet can interfere with the device’s signal and disturb the magnetic field of some internal electronic components and sensors.

ID cards, bank cards

These important documents are among the items not to keep with your mobile phone or in the phone case. Since you often take your phone out to use it, there is a high risk of accidentally dropping the documents.

Is it safe to keep your mobile phone near you while sleeping?

According to Verywell Health, (US) having the habit of keeping your phone on your bed, under your pillow, or too close to your bed poses potential health risks.

Disturbed sleep quality

Keeping your phone near you while sleeping can lead to direct disruptions in your sleep, such as phone ringtone or message notifications causing you to startle. These sleep interruptions can lead to irritability, difficulty falling back asleep, and eventually sleep deprivation and fatigue.

Impact on reproductive health

Using your phone delays your sleep. Inadequate sleep can affect your body in various ways and lead to reproductive health issues.

When your phone is near your bed, its radiation can also harm your body and cause headaches, muscle pain, and interfere with your reproductive system. It is better to keep your phone away from your bed.

Accidents due to phone explosion

When you place your phone under your pillow or charge it overnight, it generates heat. The pillowcase and mattress prevent the phone from dissipating heat properly, increasing the risk of explosion. It is best to charge your phone away from your bed.

Experts advise keeping your phone at a distance from your bed, and preferably outside the bedroom. Typically, there is nothing urgent that cannot wait until the next morning. By keeping your phone away, you ensure a better quality of sleep and eliminate the worry of phone explosion, which can be life-threatening.
